Happy 6 Month Anniversary, Readers.

Hello, my lovelies! Can you believe it? Last night marked the 6 month anniversary (183 days because it's a leap year) of Aisles of Beauty's first post! Remember? I told that story about Mother Nature and color and makeup? Read the story here. Aisles of Beauty has really grown since then, huh? I remember when I was 12 and just wanting to start a beauty blog... I wasn't sure what I'd do... So I just dove right in. And here I am, with posts recognized all over the world, linked by other sites (I love when that happens), with my official Youtube Channel released and starting partnerships and guest posts and... Wow. It's been a pretty successful six months. 

Did you know 6 is my lucky number?

I'd like you all to know that no matter how many times I get writer's block, or how many times something goes wrong with this old Macbook, I still love you guys. You're the best reader's a teen blogger like myself could ever dream of, and just keep reading. Keep sharing my blog with your friends and sending me emails and giving me ideas. And I'll keep posting and making videos and taking pictures and buying products to review. 

Cheers to another six months!

Foundation Sticks?!

Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick

Hello, my lovelies! I was browsing the pages of my beauty idol Michelle Phan's beauty blog, and came across a recent post about makeup for teens. Being a teenager, and writing a blog for teenagers, I immediately was drawn to the post, and discovered a phenomenon I had never heard of before: Foundation Sticks.

Michelle Phan specifically recommended the Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick, and so I checked Bobbi Brown's website to see what Foundation Sticks are all about. Foundation Sticks are "designed for portability and adjustable coverage," and are great for all skin types, except very oily (but some reviewers with oily skin said it worked just fine). You just smear some product onto your face and you can easily blend its creamy solution onto your face for a natural, even appearance. It gives sheer to full coverage depending on how much you want. According to reviewers, it's the best with combination skin. (Don't know your skin type? Find out here.)

Have you heard of Foundation Sticks? Because right now, I feel like I've been living under a rock. Do any readers use a foundation stick, or any other Bobbi Brown products? I'm seriously considering ditching my Sephora Mattifying Foundation and buying this for $42... Pricy? Well, it says a little goes a long way.

In the Classroom: Nails

These are some nice nails... I'm envious!

Hello, my lovelies! Before anything, I have to wish my older sister Alexis Angelettie a happy SEVENTEENTH BIRTHDAY!!!! Oh gosh, she's getting so old. Gross.

And in other unrelated news, with a fine point pink sharpie, I traced over all the lettering on the keyboard of my MacBook yesterday afternoon... God forbid I end up trying to sell my laptop to Pinky Dinky Doo one day... Does anyone remember that show? The story box? Mr. Guinea Pig?

Alright, never mind with my childhood television preferences. Back to beauty blogging... Uh–where was I? Oh yeah, what's really been on my mind is nails. I'm sure you remember from How to Create Marble Nails that I used to have a terrible habit of biting my nails... Luckily I'm happy to say that I'm wrapping up my 6th week without biting a single nail! Hallelujah! 

To celebrate almost 7 weeks without biting my nails, I'm writing another In the Classroom special, this time on, well, nails. And just like In the Classroom: Skincare, I'll be breaking this into parts. This first part is all about the anatomy of your nails.

The basic anatomy of a fingernail includes:

• The Cuticle - a thicker layer of skin between the nail and your skin to protect from infection. 
• The Lunula - a white semicircle or moon at the base of the nail.
• The Nail Bed - also known as the body of the nail, is the pinkish part, and the largest portion of your nail.
• The Free Edge - the white nail that contributes to the length of your nails; the part that can be filed and shaped.
• The Lateral Nail Fold - the separation between your nail and the rest of your finger.

I'm sorry, but I just can't believe you don't remember Pinky Dinky Doo. So I've provided you with a helpful reminder of the wonderful show that taught us Big Fancy Words and hatred of the color pink (alright, that last part didn't rub off on me).

Back to School Blues and Hues

Nude Makeup Palette

Hello, my lovelies! Oh, goodness, I feel its been ages since I last posted! It's school. While raving about all the Back to School shopping and sales and clothes and makeup I completely forgot about how problematic back to school can be as well.

Now it's Back to School Blues because with my busy schedule and upcoming auditions for the Fall Drama, I don't even know HOW I could possibly find any time to blog! No no, this is not goodbye. I have a few ideas up my sleeve to post often, so bare with me while I experiment....

Speaking of bare, another form of Back to School Blues has been on my mind. I call it Back to School Hues. Remember in my post about the Numbers Game, where I talked about getting your parents to let you wear makeup and maturity and all that jazz? Well, some parents, like mine, are a bit stubborn, and while they let me wear makeup, they're a teensy bit particular about what I can wear. For example, my mother doesn't appreciate pink lipstick. I love pink lipstick when I want to create a bold lip, but she does not. So pink lipstick is out of the picture on school days. Parties? The mall? It's fine. But school? Nope.

I own nude makeup. Foundation, a few nude eyeshadows, and of course clear gloss, etc. But some girls can only wear nude makeup school is any at all. Maybe it's concealer with a bit of foundation and maybe some lipgloss with a slight tint... Well I want to be able to help that latter as well. So if you have to wear nude makeup, don't worry! The next time I can squeeze in blogging time, I shall most definitely educate you on nude makeup.

In the Classroom: Skincare

Hello, my lovelies! I have a terrible case of the sniffles, with a sore throat as well. So my busy week's events are out, but luckily for you, that leaves me plenty of time to bulk up on posts! When writing this post, I had so much to say, I had to break it into parts. And sorry about missing yesterday, I was too sick to even look at my computer. So, introducing... In the Classroom: Skincare!

Starting at age 10, and for the rest of your life, taking care of your skin becomes a priority. So it'd only make sense to explain the basic science of your skin; more specifically, your pores.

Your pores are tiny holes in the skin that allow natural oils created under the skin to reach the surface and keep your skin soft and supple. 

But often, we don't think of pores that way. We think of them as the reason for blackheads and acne. TVs advertise pore strips and cleansers that minimize your pores and give you flawless skin. Pores aren't a bad thing, as long as you know what you're doing.

Pores can get clogged with dirt, oils, and makeup that you put on the surface of your skin. This blocks the natural oils that are made in your body from coming out to lubricate your skin. Remember? That's the pores job. That's when breakouts start; acne and blackheads.

Keeping the breakouts away is easy; all you have to do is take care of your skin. Just wash your face, and make sure you wash away the dirt, oils, and makeup so they don't clog your pores. Simple as this task is, this is where all the confusion begins. Truth be told, there are dozens of ways to cleanse your skin and keep it healthy. 

It's a personalized matter; skincare is different for every person. If you have dry skin vs. oily skin, tough skin vs. sensitive skin, how much time you have in your schedule, allergies, preferences to smells and textures... Get the point? You've got the science of your skin down, but there's still a whole world to learn.

Hello, my lovelies! Have I ever mentioned how much I love Stumble Upon? I swear, I discover all types of new and exciting web pages using this amazing site AND app.

One of the websites I stumbled upon today was candychang.com. This website is the Mecca of inspiring projects, events, and ideas. It's mission is to spur people into living life to the fullest. I highly recommend checking it out!

The specific page I stumbled upon was Candy Chang's Before I Die Project. The mission was to build chalkboards all around the world with the message "Before I Die..." and then dozens of slots for people to write what they want to do before they die. It caught my eye because the same chalkboard is in front of Garage at the mall, and my pal Neeyah jumped on my back so she could write "Meet Chris Brown" on one of the higher slots.

What are the odds of seeing this twice? I think fate is trying to give me a message.

Before I die... What do I want to do? To see? Life is about... Living life to its fullest potential, is it not? What do I want to accomplish?

Fashion: Trending in 1969

Hello, my lovelies! This morning I came across the most interesting blog called Miss Moss, which is more of a "lifestyle blog," if you will.

In the Fashion and Vintage section, though, I found an extremely eye opening post with pictures of the trends from 1969. While some outfits looks rather ridiculous, a lot of them looked eerily similar to the trends we're wearing today. Loud prints, layers, bright colors, a multitude of textures... It got me thinking about how fashion is "recycled." It was once quoted "fashion is a form of ugliness so severe, we must change it every six months." Well said.

The Numbers Game: The Bird in the Windshield

Now is she mature enough to wear makeup?

Like every road you will travel on, there will be bumps, and deer, and potholes. Our first obstacle is similar to an irritating bird flying into the windshield as if it can't see where it's going, even though it has two eyes. Not one, two. So why must it fly into the windshield! Sigh. Never mind. My point is, we have annoying birds in our lives. They are known as the adults in our lives that are just a tad old school.


They are the ones who believe middle schoolers, and even high schoolers, are too young for makeup. So we must think about the Numbers Game. How young is too young? What age is OK? How old until I can wear this or that? The Numbers Game is simply an excuse to hide the ever elusive truth about tweens and teens like us. Maturity isn't our most widespread characteristic. Maturity will be your most important asset in the Hunger Games Numbers Game. No bow and arrow required to win.


The concept is simple: The adults in your life need to understand you are mature enough to wear makeup. This means you have to be able to wear it in a respectful, tasteful manner. Not so much that you look like Lady Gaga, no crazy colors at, for example, church, and NO LOOKING LIKE SNOOKI. EVER. I mean it. Don't even try it. It's a waste of makeup.


So if you can wear your makeup in a tasteful manner, or at least you are willing to learn how here, then you are qualified to add a little of Mother Nature's gift to your face. I don't mean the gift in the Tampax Commercial... Because I know that's what at least one of you was thinking. I mean color! Makeup! Excitement! Expression! Creativity!


Honestly, a four year old isn't mature enough to wear makeup. Most four year olds can't even handle the brushes properly. My four year old cousin recently destroyed some cream blush I had... Aww.
